At Alcon, we are proudly committed to creating a work culture that welcomes and celebrates diversity and inclusion. That’s why we are thrilled Alcon has earned a 95 percent rating on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2021 Corporate Equality Index.
Now in its 19th year, the Human Rights Campaign’s annual survey examines corporate policies and practices related to workplace equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) individuals and their families. The survey results are an important way to gauge the inclusiveness that exists within a company.
Alcon’s latest results are a testament to our strong and continued commitment to evolving our culture to be more diverse and inclusive. Since our inaugural listing in 2020 with a score of 90%, our LGBTQ+ employee resource group, Open Professional Employee Network (OPEN), has worked closely with our HR and Benefits team, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, as well as our Executive Leadership Team, to examine our policies and drive positive change within Alcon.
The year-over-year improvement in our score demonstrates great momentum in driving equality in our policies. While we celebrate our journey so far, we continue to look up and aim for a perfect score of 100, which we believe is within our reach.
As a company, we are committed to put in the work to continue creating awareness, educating, and challenging norms to be inclusive in every possible way. Only when our associates can be their true authentic selves, can we unlock our full potential to realize our purpose of helping people around the world see brilliantly.
