Alcon, the global leader in eye care and division of Novartis, is expanding its extensive support of Eye Care Professionals (ECPs) by launching a new Multifocal Virtual Reality training module in partnership with Microsoft and Elara Systems. The virtual reality experience gives ECPs, fellows and students a three-dimensional view into actual Multifocal contact lens fittings in order to more successfully fit and recommend Alcon Multifocal contact lenses for presbyopic patients, including DAILIES TOTAL1^® Multifocal contact lenses. Alcon will debut the Multifocal Virtual Reality module at SECO International 2019 taking place February 20-24 in New Orleans, LA.

The Multifocal Virtual Reality training module was developed at Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Capture Studio, where Elara Systems was able to bring a real patient experience to life within a digital optometrist’s office. The goal of the module is to translate a familiar, real-life patient interaction into virtual reality, resulting in a one-of-a-kind experiential education for ECPs.

This unique training module is part of the Alcon Experience Academy, which offers industry-leading face-to-face and virtual training and educational resources for all ECPs so they can better serve their patients.
